Until It’s Time

Day 2 (prompt): Details in the Fabric by Jason Mraz

It is a continuous battle

to achieve harmony and

peace, from the constant

haunting reminders.

The jabs, the pokes,

the pointers to failures,

are never subtle.

They are never forgotten

it has been conveyed

They won’t be forgiven

even when I’m dead.

No walls, no boulders can

sift through the battering.

The heart is bare

it has no protection, from

the constant pummeling.

But the battle will continue,

for life was given to keep going.

Although I do not know

for how long it will hold.

But, I know the war will continue

till it is time to hang up

those boots and surrender
