Get Moving

Today’s prompt goes like this:- Today I challenge you to write a ruba’i. What’s that? Well, it’s a Persian form — multipe stanzas in the ruba’i form are a rubaiyat, as in The Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. Basically, a ruba’i is a four-line stanza, with a rhyme scheme of AABA. Robert Frost’s famous poem Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening uses this rhyme scheme. You can write a poem composed of one ruba’i, or try your hand at more, for a rubaiyat.’ For the first time I just couldn’t get myself to write a poem and had decided to not follow the prompt and just put up something else. But I sat down one more time and tried to give it a shot. This is the result of that ‘last shot’.

Life is not fair, she cried

But have you ever tried?

Not complaining all the time

And wishing that you died

Look around you and feel

The beauty and you’ll heal

The pain within yourself

It’s time you learn to deal

You’ve got the gifts in you

Now put some belief too

In yourself and in your talents

With something you can do

It’s time you get yourself out

And throw away that doubt

Put some confidence inside

And let yourself just sprout

It’s only when you try

You’ll know what to deny

To keep yourself from hurting

‘Stead of crying and asking why

  1. Wish everyone understood this. It is actuallyeasier to cry than to repair or remedy the situation. You need to look for opprtunities and not turn them away. Loved it NJ 🙂
