Silent Living

Kick starting NaPoWriMo 2014 with their prompt of an Ekphrastic Poem; a poem that is inspired by a work of art. I’ve chosen ‘The Hay Wain’ by John Constable and I’ve named the poem Silent Living.

The clouds rumble through

The sun fights to shine

There’s an eerie sort of silence

As the day washes by

The trees rustle with the wind

The only sound within silence

Hardly people here and there

Travelling on a cart so bare

A dog trots towards them

As if there’s an ‘ahoy’ for him

His tail standing upright

I wonder if it is delight

Acres of green trees about

A lonely house stands across

As if it’s hidden away in shyness

Protected by the trees in vastness
